Artist Bio

Paul G. SchauflerPaul was born in Chautauqua County New York on February 25th 1929.

The gift of a Kodak Baby Brownie at age 10 kindled an interest in photography that has continued unabated

Drafted ,following a  1951 B.S. in foresty at SUNY Syracuse he taught photogrammetry at the  army engineer school, Fort Belvoir , VA.

His Forest Service career spanned 28 years, his last position was that of a specialist in land use planning and environmental  assesments.

After the Forest Service Paul worked in color stock until the demise of that market when he returned to his first love, black and white fine prints.

His current stable consists of one field and one studio 4x5 sheet film camera plus hold over 35m SLRs.

Galleries and museums in Brigham City and Ogden Utah, Portland and Florence Oregon, and Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia Washington have exhibited his work.

Paul is an active member of the 11,000 member Mountaineers, he assists in course work and leads scrambles. Scrambles are climbs up to the point where a prudent individual would require "protection" in the form of ropes, belays, etc.

 As a member of Arts Olympia and the Olympia Art League he actively participates in their shows as well as Olympia Art Walks and Studio Tours
